Charlene M. Dukes
Dr. Charlene M. Dukes is president of Prince George’s Community College, which serves 44,000 students with more than 200 degree, workforce development, and continuing education programs. Prince George’s Community College is the location of the Academy for Health Sciences, operated in partnership with Prince George’s County Public Schools, which is the first program in Maryland to allow students to graduate simultaneously with high school diplomas and associate degrees.
Among her numerous leadership positions in government, business, and the nonprofit sector, Dr. Dukes serves on the boards of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce, the Harlem Renaissance Foundation, the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, and is currently president of the Maryland State Board of Education. She has been recognized by Washingtonian magazine as one of the most powerful women in the DC region and as one of the 2016 Washingtonians of the Year, was inducted into the Maryland Women’s Hall of Fame in 2013, and was included in the Washington Business Journal‘s Power 100 in 2014.
