As program director, Karen FitzGerald supervises Meyer’s program officers for Maryland and Virginia, and manages the Foundation’s DC portfolio of grantees. She also served as the lead program officer for the $6-million Children and Family Capacity-Building Initiative, which provided capacity-building grants and other support to a targeted group of former Freddie Mac Foundation grantees. Before joining the Meyer Foundation staff in 2001, she worked for Enterprise Community Investment, which syndicates Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to finance affordable rental housing throughout the country.
Karen is a member of the DC Local Initiatives Support Corporation’s Local Advisory Committee, and a member of the Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers Affordable Housing Action Team. She is a former board member of the Neighborhood Funders Group, and served as co-chair of the Early Care and Education Funders Collaborative and the Partnership for Prince George’s County.
Karen earned her BA from Tufts University and an MBA from Yale University.
