
The Herb Block Foundation's Pathways Out of Poverty program helps young people and adults in Washington, DC gain a quality education. The foundation supports youth programs that focus on improving student achievement among youth in middle-school and older. Youth projects may include in-school and community-based educational programs, after-school activities, mentoring programs, and programs designed to increase high school graduation rates. Adult projects should provide literacy education and GED preparation or offer vocational training and job placement. Nonprofit organizations located or providing services in the greater Washington, DC region are eligible to apply for grants ranging from $5,000-$25,000.
