As a result, DC Appleseed created a new staff position, upgraded its computer systems, and increased its efforts to identify and engage individual donors.

Founder Dana Tai Soon Burgess requested MAP support to create an alternative touring model that would take advantage of the skills and enthusiasm of a committed and engaged board to strengthen the organization's touring capacity. Using a $10,000 MAP grant, Burgess hired a consultant to document a touring model that educated the board about the booking process and engaged board members as hands-on volunteers.
