Ginger Lew Joins Meyer Foundation Board

The Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation, a private foundation in Washington, DC, announces that it has elected Ginger Lew as a new member of its board.

Ms. Lew currently heads a private consulting firm based in Washington, DC. She is also a venture partner with Amplifier Venture Partners. Until late 2005, she was the CEO and Managing Director of the Telecommunications Development Fund, a venture capital fund that invests in a broad range of communications businesses.

From 1996 to 1998, Ms. Lew was the Deputy Administrator and Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Small Business Administration where she provided day to day management and operational oversight of a $42 billion loan portfolio. She was the General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Commerce from 1994 to 1996 and specialized in technology and inetrnational trade matters. She was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate for both positions. Prior to these positions, Ms. Lew worked in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel.

Ms. Lew is Chairman of the Board of a European-based investment fund. She is a member and former co-chair of the NASDAQ Hearing and Listing Review Council. A native Californian from the San Francisco Bay area, Ms. Lew received her law degree from the University of California at Berkeley and her undergraduate degree in political science from UCLA.  She is the author of numerous business and legal articles and has spoken at more than fifty conferences. She helped found AAAIM to educate and encourage institutional investors to retain qualified Asian American investment managers.

Established in 1944 by Eugene Meyer, an owner and publisher of The Washington Post, and his wife Agnes E. Meyer, the Meyer Foundation is one of the Washington area’s oldest and most experienced private grant making foundations. The Meyer Foundation works to develop Greater Washington as a community by supporting capable, community-based nonprofit organizations that foster the well-being of all people in the region. The Foundation is especially concerned about low-income people and creating healthy neighborhoods, and seeks to promote the region’s diversity.
