As senior director for program and community, Karen FitzGerald leads Meyer’s emerging work in evaluation and knowledge management, oversees the Foundation’s capacity-building programs, and is part of the Senior Leadership Team. Since joining the Meyer Foundation staff in 2001, she has served as the program officer for Meyer’s grants in housing, health, and homelessness as well as for the bulk of Meyer’s grants to support advocacy and community organizing. She also served as the lead program officer for the $6-million Children and Family Capacity-Building Initiative, which provided capacity-building grants and other support to a targeted group of former Freddie Mac Foundation grantees.
Before joining the Meyer Foundation staff, she worked for Enterprise Community Investment, which syndicates Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to finance affordable rental housing throughout the country.
Karen is a member of the Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers Affordable Housing Action Team and WRAG’s Program and Policy Committee.
Karen earned her BA from Tufts University and an MBA from Yale University.
