Meyer Foundation Awards $1,855,000 in Grants

November 9, 2017

On October 17, the Meyer Foundation’s board of directors approved $1,855,000 in grants toward efforts to build a more equitable Greater Washington community.

These grants are the culmination of an invitation-only application process for existing grantees accelerating progress toward shared community goals in housing, education and employment, and financial security.

Our strategic plan continues to shape the way we approach our work, and we look forward to reopening the application process to grow relationships with new and existing grantee partners. The next application deadline will be February 15, 2018. Revised guidelines will be announced in early January 2018.

Grants awarded include:

  • 22 grants totaling $645,000 to support education and employment programs that prepare youth and adults to obtain family-sustaining jobs;
  • 17 grants totaling $510,000 to support programs that move individuals and families from homelessness into housing, services that enable individuals and families to remain stably housed, and affordable housing advocacy;
  • 17 grants totaling $530,000 to ensure that low-income individuals and families build assets and increase financial security; and
  • 3 grants totaling $70,000 to support capacity-building programs to strengthen management and leadership, assess and increase impact, and expand resources for nonprofits in the Greater Washington region.
