February 16, 2018
Nicky Goren

Following a multi-phased, nationwide search, I’m thrilled to announce that Terri D. Wright, Ph.D., MPH, will join us as vice president for program and community. Her first day will be February 16.

Terri brings to the Foundation expertise in leading and developing programs, and in navigating and tackling the interrelated social determinants of health outcomes, including housing, education, employment, and asset building.

Her impressive background includes a strong focus on advancing racial and social equity through policy, practice, and management in philanthropic, government, and nonprofit organizations. She served as the first executive director of The Steve Fund, and as director of both the Center for Public Health Policy and the Center for School, Health and Education at the American Public Health Association (APHA). She also served as program director for health policy at the W. K. Kellogg Foundation under the direction of renowned change agent Dr. Gail Christopher, and played a role in leading Kellogg through its racial equity journey. Her experience also includes her role as maternal and child health director and bureau chief for child and family services at the Michigan Department of Community Health in Lansing, Michigan.

As vice president for program and community, Terri will work with our program team – including Senior Director for Program and Community Karen FitzGerald; Maryland Program Director Julian Haynes; and the incoming program directors for the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia communities to develop and provide oversight and management of all programmatic activities, and to ensure alignment with the Foundation’s goals and values.

In the coming weeks, the staff and board here at Meyer look forward to introducing Terri to our communities and networks. We know that she is eager to get to know you all as well. In the meantime, please join Meyer in welcoming her to our team!
