JUMP TO:

We’re Hiring: A Period of Growth for the Meyer Foundation Team

October 13, 2017
Nicky Goren

In an update this past June, I shared how the Meyer Foundation is moving toward fully implementing our strategic plan and further deepening our commitment to addressing structural and systemic racism. As that message suggested, it has been a busy summer at Meyer, and the work continues.

I also shared at the time that, following the recent transitions of some of our valued and longtime staff members, the Foundation is in a unique position to realign and further develop a team that will support the goals and strategies of our strategic plan, as well as other urgent and evolving areas of work.

This is an exciting moment of growth for Meyer. I’m thrilled to lead the next phases of our work, and I look forward to expanding the Meyer Foundation team in order to do so with talented individuals who will add new perspectives, expertise, and leadership to our already high-performing staff. These additions to our team are one of the most important ways we’re realigning internally and externally toward our vision of an equitable Washington region in which economically vulnerable people thrive. I’m pleased to share our open positions in the profiles below:

  • Vice President, Program and Community. Formerly the Vice President for Programs and Communications, the Vice President for Program and Community will serve as a critical leader in the Foundation during a period of organizational, programmatic, and culture change, providing oversight and management of all programmatic activities and ensuring alignment with Foundation goals and values.
  • Senior Director, Strategy and Racial Equity, a newly-created position grounded in organizational development, strategic communications, and equity, the Senior Director will have fluency and expertise in racial equity concepts and practices to integrate them into all areas of the Foundation’s work, with specific responsibility for ensuring the Foundation adheres to strategy and maintains effective internal and external communications.
  • Program Director, Virginia Community, and Program Director, Washington, DC Community. Formerly known as program officers, Meyer Foundation Program Directors will embed themselves in the nonprofit, civic, and business sectors to understand the challenges facing individuals and families. They’ll build on their understanding of community issues and their expertise in the Meyer Foundation’s program areas to develop and implement portfolios and approaches. This work incorporates grantmaking, capacity building, convening and advocacy through the lens of racial equity, including systems change, working in close collaboration with Foundation colleagues.

Koya Leadership Partners, an executive search firm specializing in placing top talent in mission-driven organizations and institutions of higher learning, is steering our search for qualified candidates. Their values—impact, diversity, respect, and innovation—align with our own ideals, and provide the Foundation with the right lens to approach hiring decisions.

In addition to the program positions listed above, Meyer’s finance and operations team is also conducting a search for a Controller, responsible for accounting and finance functions for the Foundation with an interest in integrating racial equity into partnerships and practices.

Visit the position profiles for more information and to learn how to submit your interest. And please share these positions within your networks!

It’s an exciting time to work at the Meyer Foundation. The individuals who join our team will be key partners in shaping our work today and for the future. We can’t wait to share who will be joining the team during this redefining moment.
