Mallory Walker joined Walker & Dunlop in 1963 after college. He was elected as a director in 1969, executive vice president in 1971, president & CEO in 1976, and retired as chairman in 2010.
Mr. Walker's business activities include membership in the American Council of Real Estate Counselors and leadership positions in the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, Urban Land Institute, the Washington Board of Realtors, and the Apartment House Council. He was a founding director of Chas. E. Smith Residential, Inc, an early REIT, and a shareholder-elected director of Fannie Mae from 1981-1994. He served on the board of Group Hospitalization and Medical Services, Inc./Blue Cross Blue Shield from 1989-1993.
His civic activities include lengthy service for two charitable foundations- the Heinz Endowments in Pittsburg, PA and the Meyer Foundation. His other activities include serving as chair of the National Portrait Gallery, member of the Smithsonian National Board, and director of the Phillips Collection.
Mr. Walker serves on the Meyer Foundation's Investment Committee. He served the Foundation's board from 1977-1989, serving as chair from 1983- 1989.
